Previous ESS Substitute Teachers

As of the 2026-27 school year, ESS is no longer managing substitute teachers for Greene County Schools. If you were previously a substitute teacher through ESS, we would love to keep you on board. All you need to do is update tax/payment forms at the Greene County Board of Education office (301 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill, NC 28580).

Application Process

We’re hiring dedicated substitute teachers to support classrooms across the district. To become a substitute teacher with Greene County Schools, complete the following steps:

  1. All individuals must complete an online application: Substitute Teacher Online Application
  2. Once received, you will be invited to complete a virtual substitute training course.
  3. Upon successful completion of the substitute training course, all applicants will receive a link to complete a background check and drug test. Once we have received the results, we will reach out to you to complete the onboarding process.
