The STEM Society

The STEM Society was established to provide leadership opportunities beyond the classroom for students across K-12, the Mini Makers (K-1), the Epic Engineers (2-3), Jr. Makers (4-5), Jr. STEM Ambassadors at Greene County Middle (6-8), and STEM Ambassadors at Greene Central High School (9-12). Each core group of students create opportunities for all students in the STEM Society by working with community leaders, school leaders, hosting summer camps, planning college tours, hosting community appreciation events, and supporting academic acknowledgement of their peer.

The STEM Society has collaborated often with local and regional organizations to assist with various community service projects or events.  Students that serve as STEM Ambassadors receive community service hours for their commitment.

Society Objectives

  • Raise STEM awareness with a focus on STEM careers, advanced degrees, and industry connections through tours and events.

  • Build community partnerships and complete at least two community service projects per school year.
  • Provide students practical leadership experience by running events, sharing best practices, and presenting student products at local and statewide events.
  • Encourage recruitment and mentoring of younger students into STEM pathways.
